Preserving your digital assets while maintaining privacy and security is crucial. This tutorial will guide you through the process of loading half or a fraction of your seed phrase into Jinca while ensuring your information remains encrypted and secure.
Step 1a: We highly recommend considering the use of a multisig wallet or implementing Shamir’s Secret Sharing Scheme (SSSS) for your seed phrase. These approaches provide enhanced security and control over your assets, ensuring their safety in case of unforeseen circumstances. In both cases, Jinca can serve as your trusted third party. By integrating our services with your multisig wallet or SSSS setup, you can ensure that your digital assets are well-protected and accessible only by authorized parties. Jinca's encrypted and secure platform can hold one of the required keys or shares, providing an extra layer of protection and peace of mind.
Step 1b: Split your seed phrase Before you proceed, it's essential to split your seed phrase into parts, while maintaining their correct order. Divide it into halves, thirds, or any other fraction, depending on your preference. Ensure that you securely store the other parts separately, such as sending them to a trusted friend or relative, or using other secure storage methods.
Step 2: Access your Jinca dashboard Log in to your Jinca account and navigate to the dashboard.
Step 3: Add a Self Custodial Wallet On your Jinca dashboard, go to "Sources" and add a "Self Custodial Wallet."
Step 4: Input wallet alias and assign a destinatary. You'll have to input an alias to identify the wallet and assign the destinatary to the information.
Step 5: Input seed phrase fraction and additional information In the next input field, enter the fraction of your seed phrase and/or any information you would like to share with the destinatary in the case that your Jinca is triggered. (Everything in this input will be securely encrypted client-side with the password you'll set in Step 6, so Jinca will never know what was in this input.)
Step 6: Input a secure password and confirm it. This password will be used to encrypt and decrypt the information given in Step 5, so it is important for your destinatary to have this password. The information in this box will not be accessible on the internet until your Jinca is triggered, and the destinatary receives the link to decrypt the data.
Step 7: Once you've entered the part of your seed phrase and provided the encryption password, click the "Submit" button.
By following this tutorial, you have successfully loaded half or a fraction of your seed phrase into Jinca while maintaining the highest level of security and privacy. Remember, keeping your seed phrase parts separated and securely stored is crucial to protect your digital assets in the event of an unforeseen circumstance.
